Budget Conscious Funerals and Repatriation
Low Cost and Budget Conscious Funeral Services

Low Cost Funerals
Whether it be because of financial restrictions or because your loved one wanted this to be an understated or simple but dignified time we at A C Atwell strive to achieve an equally high level of service for all our funerary clients in Birmingham and the surrounding areas.
Low Cost does not have to mean low in dignity, low in compassion or low in excellence.
Whatever your budget we can work together to achieve the ideal service at your time of need. We understand that there are many factors which contribute to the option of a low cost or budget orientated funeral service, and have created our "Tranquility Range" to cater for just such requirements. You will find the details of this in "Price Guide"
Please contact us on 0121 707 6080 or 0121 747 7900 any time, day or night, to discuss the options and choices available.
D.S.S Funded Funerals
You may feel that there is no option open to you except a council funded funeral, but if you are in receipt of any one of a number of benefits there is a very strong possibility that you are entitled to assistance from the "Funeral Fund". With a little help from you or your family and maybe a little flexibility with timings or location of service WE CAN HELP YOU to avoid having to lay your loved one to rest with the indignity of a council funeral. To discuss the feasibility of a D.S.S claim for assistance please call us. We are here to help 24 hours a day, 365 days of the year.

A Simple Farewell
Our Simplicity Range has been created to be just what it suggests.
"Simple Funeral" or "Simplicity" is a term we use to describe what has, for us, been the most simple, but private and moving, farewell we have witnessed in all our years of serving the people of Birmingham.
As we have said before, we are all aware that there is no such thing as a standard or "basic" funeral.
We recently had the honour of caring for a local Family who had been left with the dilemma of what to do about a request that the deceased had made shortly before he died.
We've all heard the "chuck me in a bin bag and bury me in the garden" line (absolute simplicity.. not!); but this was the closest we have yet been to being able to actually carry out the wishes of a person who wanted his departure to stick rigidly to the "simple" euphemism.
The young man in question had this request....
There is to be NO service, there is to be NO minister, there are to be NO mourners, there is to be NO pomp there is to be "NO NOTHING" but he had, at least, given his family carte blanch with his ashes.
This left the remaining relatives in quite a disturbed state at the prospect of walking away from their brother after his somewhat untimely demise without so much as a "Cheerio then!"
Simplicity
Closely following the wishes of the deceased for a simple funeral, but taking into account the needs of his family for closure, this is where our "Simplicity Range" was created, and is this:~
The Deceased is moved from hospital or HMC to one of our Funeral Homes
Cremation Papers are signed by the next of kin
Deceased will be laid in a simple coffin, clothed in a simple shroud
Deceased will be taken to a local Crematorium for a simple service (our team will be present)
Within two working days the ashes will be ready for collection from a Funeral Home local to the family or delivered to the family within four working days
The family are then free to conduct their own private farewell, whilst keeping within the parameters of the deceased's wishes.
Simple Funerals from our "Simplicity Range" are an ideal solution for families whose departed loved one had expressed a wish for absolute simplicity, and are an ideal alternative to the "Council Funerals" offered by some Funeral Directors as "Simple Funerals"
The cost of this service was £700 plus the disbursement fees
